We learn by listening to others. However, I think in this verse, James is also talking about listening to God. Our lives are filled with distractions. For example, our phones alert us whenever we have an email, text, etc. It is so easy to get distracted by all of the stuff in life and miss out on the important things. During this time, God wants us to take a pause and focus on the things that matter. Take time this weekend to disconnect from the distractions of life and focus on hearing from God.

Tests always come before promotion. Are you going through some hardships? I think we all have experienced a test of some sort this year. Sometimes I feel like this is all a bad dream and someday I will wake up and we won’t have to wear masks anymore. Well, that someday has not arrived but I believe it will. If this is a test, I want to pass this test and move forward. James offers us encouragement if we are steadfast and persevere through the hard times. We need to continue to do what is right even when it is hard. God rewards those who don’t give up in the hard times.

Fear is an obstacle that holds us back in life. Courage is not the absence of fear, but it is taking action in the presence of fear. Many times, in my life, I missed out on things because I was afraid to step out. It is time to say no to fear. If God leads you to it, He will give you the strength to make it through it. Start this week out with a mindset that God will give you the strength to do what you need to do
