Focus is very important for moving forward. As I shared on Monday, I get distracted easily especially by the alerts on my phone. However, I equally allow my past to distract me. Leave your past mistakes for a promising future!
We miss out on what God has for us when we focus on our past mistakes. Ruth Graham, wife of Billy Graham states, “Every cat knows some things need to be buried.” I chuckled when I read this because it reminded me of how many times, I have let my past hold me back from moving forward. I will never leave my past mistakes and look to my future by continually dwelling on things that I cannot change.
I love this quote by Clara Barton founder of the American Red Cross says, “I distinctly remember forgetting that.” When you are reminded of your past mistakes just say, “I distinctly remember forgetting that.”
God doesn’t want us to beat ourselves up over our past mistakes. He wants us to move forward and continue with His purpose. So, leave your past mistakes for a promising future!
“Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead” Philippians 3:13
