Learning can be fun and engaging by making it fun.
Last week my husband was off! He had a root canal on Monday, so we just hung out at the house. We decided to venture out on Friday. We took a short drive to a great little farm just 17 miles from Abilene on County Road 224.
is a great place to safely take your whole family. When we arrived, we were greeted by a nice young man who provided instructions on picking the fruits and vegetables.
My son and I headed out into the fields and started picking strawberries. We were a little late, so it was already busy. This was a new exciting experience for me. We also picked beets, onions, and carrots.
If you bring your kids, there is a slide and a train to ride on as well as a small petting zoo.
had some many great things to purchase such as baskets of pre-picked fruits and vegetables, baking supplies, farm raised meat, and sauces.
We also tried their amazing strawberry homemade ice cream. Yummy!
If you are looking for a place to take your whole family and safely social distance, then take the short drive to Denton Valley Farms. You won’t be disappointed.
There are so many great places that are literally in our backyard. Now is a great time to spend time with family, make memories, and visit those hidden gems that are close by.
Join me next week as I continue on my journey for total wellness!
Blessings!

I hope your Mother’s Day was amazing. I had a great Mother’s Day despite all the crazy things happening in the world. My kids called me throughout the day and even though I couldn’t give my granddaughters a hug, I loved seeing them.
I want to share something God has put on my heart. Many moms are working from home and also homeschooling their kids. Lately, I am feeling that moms are growing weary and Summer hasn’t even started. We need each other.
you will have the energy to take care of others. Taking care of yourself is less about being pampered but more about fierceness, obedience, and courage. I believe fierce women have a strength that goes beyond themselves.
Esther was fierce and beautiful. She was thrust into the kingdom by her cousin Mordecai. Esther soon became Queen of Vashti and risked her life to save her people. (Esther 4-8).
Who’s ready? Esther was beautiful, wise, a warrior, and filled with loving-kindness. Life is hard and we can’t get through it without the grace of God. I could have never made it through the storms of my life without Jesus!
can make you fierce? Start with changing your focus. Start your day with a prayer. Ask God to help you throughout the day. When I start my day with God, my day is a whole lot better. Find a great book or devotional, and then dive in. Sometimes it is better to study one scripture at a time then to study the whole chapter. I am reading a study of Colossians by Joyce Meyer.
To be fierce you must have the right tools in your toolbox. Esther had the right tools in her toolbox (Esther 4-7). She wasn’t just beautiful, she was fierce. Begin today by studying the scriptures and filling up with Godly confidence.

How are you feeling? This week has been filled with a whole bunch of emotions for me. What about the emotions your kids are feeling right now?
Kids were told there was a virus out there so they could not return to school this year. All of their activities were canceled including sleepovers, play dates, sports, dance lessons, etc.
With that said, I am sharing some great activities to help your kids process the emotions they are feeling right now!
Start with a good book! Remember you are helping your kids process their emotions. This is ongoing so don’t give up!
Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day by Judith Viorst, illustrated by Ray Cruz
The Grouchy Ladybug, by Eric Carle
A great place to start with a quick and easy downloadable lesson plan is https://www.vooks.com/resources. You can get a whole month of use for free just by signing up. If you don’t have books at home, this is the website for you.
A fantastic movie to watch and one of my favorites – Disney’s Pixar Inside Out!
Along with the movie, you can make some cards and write the different emotions and faces on there. Have the kids draw a card and talk about the emotions. Listen, listen, listen!!!
Last week we talked about celebrations. Tomorrow is Cinco de Mayo. It is a great time to teach your kids about traditions and cultures. There are so many great things to do.
Whatever you do, celebrate, and have fun! Start with this great website Cinco de Mayo celebration!
Remember we are all in this together. If you need help, please feel free to reach out. I would love to see what you are doing at your house. For more fun activities click on the link.
Blessings to you!
