Are You Okay?

This past week has been a blur. Last Tuesday I started feeling bad like feverish and coughing. On Wednesday I was even worse. I went to the doctor on Thursday and found out I had the flu. Needless to say, I didn’t get my blog completed for the week.

I was supposed to be resting at home. However, thoughts and worries were bombarding my mind. How will I get everything done? I have so much on my list of to-dos that I will never catch up. My house is a mess and how will I get it cleaned up before I go back to work again. I need to go the grocery store and if I am contagious how will I get the groceries for the week.

There have been many times this past week that I had to take a deep breath, turn on the worship music, and close my eyes just to relax.

I started reading a book by Sheila Walsh, It’s Okay Not to Be Okay. Wow I needed to be reminded of this.

I spend too much of my time trying to do it all! Are you like this? I end up wearing myself out and yes catching the flu!

Matthew 11:28-30 states, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

We don’t have to be strong all of the time. We cannot do it all!

God is right there waiting. So, take a break and get some rest. God’s got this!

Endurance

Happy Monday! We had a wonderful weekend with our kids and grandkids. The time we spend together is precious but so short. This week is Spring Break for me so today has been a lazy day. I have learned that it is okay to have those days every once in a while.

It seems like everybody that I talk to lately are going through a trial or two.

James 1:2 states, “Consider it wholly joyful, my brethren, whenever you are enveloped in or encounter trials of any sort or fall into various temptations.”

I don’t know about you, but trials are not always joyous! However, isn’t it amazing to know that we can have joy even in the midst of our circumstances.

When I think about Daniel being thrown into the lion’s den and he just took a nap. I have been in the lion’s den this past week. I have been so tired that yes, I just took a nap.

I could feel God working on my behalf, so I just rested in knowing that He had this.

Trials brings about endurance, perseverance, and patience. I want all of these things!

Trials will come and boy oh boy they will not be easy but putting our faith and trust in God will help us make it through to the other side.

Are You Too Busy?

“The Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed-or indeed only one.” Isaiah 40:29

Have you ever had one of those days from the time you wake up you are literally running around like crazy trying to get everything done? I know that I have! I literally spend my entire weekend getting ready for the next week. By Sunday I am so tired.

I want to be the best mom, the best wife, the best Mae Mae, and the best daughter. I have a problem with stretching myself too thin.

Martha was making preparations for Jesus and His disciples to come to her house. She had a sister called Mary. Mary just “sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what He said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made” (Luke 10: 39-40). Martha talked to the Lord and asked Him why he didn’t care that she was doing all of the work. The Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed.” (Luke 10: 41).

I can relate to Martha. What about you?

Maybe we are trying to be what God never designed us to be. Maybe we need to be more like Mary and sit at the feet of Jesus.
