Turn the light on!

You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that you may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:14:16)

As a young girl, I loved driving around with my parents looking at Christmas lights. I wanted to share my love for Christmas with my boys so when they were younger, I drove them around the neighborhoods so they could see the wonderful displays of lights. I love Christmas lights especially the twinkling ones.

We live in a dark world. It seems everywhere we turn, there is turmoil. I can’t even turn on the television without hearing something negative. The scriptures say, “we are the light of the world”. Which means once we are plugged into the ultimate power source, our light will shine even brighter than the twinkling lights. So, as we head into the New Year, think about how you will stay plugged in. Spend time with the ultimate power source so your light will continue to shine!

Turn the light on!

Good morning, Lord!

Do you wake up in the morning and say, “Good morning, Lord! Or Good Lord, it’s morning!” I have to confess that many a morning when my alarm goes off, I have said the latter. The Bible says, “How precious is your unfailing love, O God! (Psalm 36:7). “Give thanks to the God of heaven, for his steadfast love endures forever” (Psalms 136: 26). “This is the day the Lord has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it” (Psalm 118:24). We may be having a rough morning, but we have so much to be thankful for.

Friends, I want to tell you today, that we have a God that loves us so much that we cannot even fathom the depths of His love for us. When it seems like all is lost and we cannot go on, look up because your help comes from the Lord. You may have walked through many trials in 2018. Just know that you have never been alone. God has always been there walking alongside you. He never promised us a perfect life. In fact, God tells us in His word, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace in this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). One word that stands out to me in this verse, “peace.” God gives us peace amidst all the struggles.

I want to offer you a challenge today. Let this New Year be the best ever. Get up out of the bed every morning and say, “Good morning Lord! I love you!” I hope that you will give this a try in the New Year.

Thank you for reading my blog. You are the best! I love you all!

Are you a worrier or a warrior?

Then Jesus said to His disciples: “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. For life is more than food, and body more than clothes. Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds. Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?” (Luke 12: 22-34).

Are you a worrier? It is a common pastime for everyone. I confess that I have spent many a day and night worrying. If you think about it, we have a lot to worry about such as finding a job, paying bills, raising our kids, losing a loved one, not being enough etc. The list goes on and on. You know what I have learned over the years, worry does not change one thing.

Friends, did you know that worry opens the door for the devil? Worry can lead to sickness and disease. Worry can keep you up at night and cause you to be anxious.

It takes time to overcome the habit of worrying. Now days when we want to find an answer, we Google it. You can find the answer to any and all of our problems in Google, not! I repeat, not!

I will provide two easy ways to help you become a warrior instead of being a worrier. 1 Peter 5:7 states, “Humble yourselves, under God’s mighty hand that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.

Two things that we can learn from these verses: humble yourselves and cast your anxieties. In other words, when you have struggles and we know we will, go to the throne not to the phone. Google will not have the answer, but God will. Once we gone to the throne and talked to God, know that He has this! In other words, God’s got this!

Now this is the most important part of all, “Let it go!” I repeat, “Let it go!”

Keep in mind that this requires work and practice. You are in training to become a warrior. I hope that you will try this today! Don’t waste another second worrying!
