Never give up!
I don’t know about you, but when I think about endurance, I think of marathon runners. I remember reading countless stories about marathon runners. For example, a 70-year-old lady, Jeannie Rice set an age group record in a marathon. To train for marathons, she wakes up early in the morning and runs 65 miles a week. Justin Gallegos, a runner with cerebral palsy from Oregon University, was awarded a professional contract from Nike. He started running to improve his quality of life and to get stronger.
Last year, my oldest son ran his first marathon. I was so impressed with his tenacity and motivation. I have never been a runner myself, but I am inspired by marathon runner’s endurance or what I like to call grit.
Angela Lee Duckworth wrote a book called, “Grit”. She also presented a TedTalk which is an abbreviated version of the book. (https://www.ted.com/talks/angela_lee_duckworth_grit_the_power_of_passion_and_perseverance?utm_campaign=tedspread&utm_medium=referral&utm_source=tedcomshare). Grit is that hard work and perseverance you put into achieving your goals.
Hebrews 10:36 states, “You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.” Jesus is coming back one day. We must endure and continue to finish the race.
My friends, stay strong in the Lord and do not quit. Be encouraged today that you can do this! Walk or run into 2019 with a passion and a never quit attitude!
